For specific markets, check for ASTM B209 (standard spec for aluminium sheet) and UL certification if the signage includes electrical components or LED backlighting. In the EU, CE marking and RoHS compliance for coatings are mandatory to ensure the absence of hazardous substances.

For large outdoor installations, request wind load calculations and material stress reports. Ensure the signage features reinforced mounting holes or integrated cleat systems. If the signage is for public infrastructure, verify that the edges are deburred or radius-cut to prevent injury during installation and maintenance.

Aluminium is prone to scratching and denting. Insist on PE protective film on both sides of each sign. For bulk orders, require wooden crate packaging (IPPC certified) rather than just cardboard boxes. Use moisture-absorbent silica gel packs inside the packaging to prevent 'white rust' or oxidation caused by humidity changes during sea freight.

Consult with a customs broker to confirm the HS Code (typically 7610 or 7616).
