Professional buyers must demand high-precision molds to ensure center-of-gravity stability. For casino-grade or high-end hobby dice, look for CNC machining rather than injection molding to minimize internal air bubbles. Ensure the manufacturer uses automated painting and tumbling processes to maintain uniform weight distribution across all faces, and request tolerance reports (ideally within ±0.05mm) for professional-grade sets.

Dice are often classified under toys or game accessories. For the US market, products must comply with CPSIA (Lead and Phthalates limits) and ASTM F963. For the EU market, EN71 Parts 1, 2, and 3 are essential, along with CE Marking. If using specialized resins or paints, ensure the manufacturer provides REACH compliance certificates to avoid customs seizures or legal liabilities.

Review their portfolio for custom mold-making (OEM/ODM). A top-tier manufacturer should support 3D prototyping and offer various finishing techniques such as electroplating, enamel filling, silk-screen printing, and laser engraving. Ask if they have an in-house design team that can assist with font legibility and balance optimization for unique geometric shapes (D4, D8, D10, D12, D20).

Always request a pre-production sample (PPS) before the mass run. For large orders, hire a third-party inspection service (like V-Trust or QIMA) to perform a DPI (During Production Inspection) and a FRI (Final Random Inspection). Focus specifically on ink adhesion (scratch tests) and surface smoothness, as these are the most common defects in mass-produced dice.

When negotiating, focus on tooling costs (mold fees); many suppliers will waive mold fees if the order volume exceeds a certain threshold (e.g., 5,000 sets).
