Additionally, check the density (g/cm³); higher density usually indicates a longer service life and better resistance to corrosion by molten aluminum. Ensure the dimensional tolerances are within ±0.1mm to guarantee a perfect fit in the electrode clamps, preventing electrical arcing.

Suppliers should ideally hold ISO 9001 certification for consistent manufacturing processes. For high-tech applications, request a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for each batch to verify the purity levels (e.g., 99.9% or higher). If the boats are used in packaging for food or medical products, ensure the materials comply with REACH or RoHS standards to prevent hazardous substance migration.

The performance is measured by the evaporation rate and the number of heating cycles it can withstand. Ask the supplier for the average service life (hours) under standard operating temperatures (e.g., 1450°C - 1550°C). A high-quality boat should exhibit minimal deformation and no cracking during rapid cooling and heating phases. Requesting a small sample batch for a trial run on your specific vacuum metallizer is the most reliable way to validate performance.

The main risks include physical breakage during transit due to the brittle nature of ceramic composites and oxidation if metal boats (like Tungsten) are exposed to moisture. Ensure the supplier uses vacuum-sealed packaging and shock-absorbent padding. Additionally, verify the HS Code (typically 6903 or 8514) to avoid incorrect customs declarations and unexpected anti-dumping duties in certain regions.

Focus on annual volume contracts rather than one-off orders to secure a 10-20% discount. Since evaporation boats are consumables, negotiate for buffer stock held by the supplier to ensure shorter lead times. Ask for tiered pricing based on the weight or quantity, and request that the supplier includes replacement guarantees for any items that arrive with micro-cracks detected during initial inspection.
