Additionally, look for CertiPUR-US® or OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certifications to ensure the foam is made without harmful chemicals like formaldehyde, heavy metals, or prohibited phthalates.

You should distinguish between Open-Cell and Closed-Cell foam. Open-cell foam is breathable and ideal for indoor sofas and mattresses as it allows air circulation. Closed-cell foam is waterproof and buoyant, making it the primary choice for outdoor furniture or marine upholstery. Ensure the supplier uses UV-resistant treatments if the foam sheets are intended for outdoor use.

In bulk manufacturing, precision is key. Specify a thickness tolerance of ±1-2mm. For large foam sheets, verify the compression set percentage; a high-quality foam should have a compression set of less than 5%, meaning it returns to its original shape after being compressed for a long period.

Foam is 'light cargo' that occupies significant space. To optimize costs, use vacuum compression packaging. This can reduce the volume by up to 70%, allowing more units per container. However, ensure the supplier uses high-resilience (HR) foam, as low-quality foam may not fully recover its shape after being compressed for long transit periods (30+ days).

The biggest risk is material substitution (using scrap filler or lower density than sampled).
