When evaluating hydraulic disc brakes, prioritize piston configuration (2-piston for standard use, 4-piston for heavy-duty/MTB), fluid type (Mineral Oil is easier to handle, while DOT fluid offers higher boiling points), and rotor compatibility (160mm to 203mm). Ensure the hose length is customizable for different frame geometries and that the clamping force meets the specific torque requirements of your application.

For the European market, products must adhere to EN 15194 (for e-bikes) and ISO 4210 safety requirements. In the US, compliance with CPSC 1512 is essential. Always request CE certification and SGS test reports to verify that the seals and hoses can withstand high-pressure environments without leakage.

Request data on heat sink technology or ceramic piston usage, which prevents heat transfer to the fluid. Ask for salt spray test reports (minimum 96 hours) to ensure corrosion resistance of the calipers and levers. For high-performance needs, verify if the pads are metallic/sintered (better for heat) or resin/organic (quieter but less heat-resistant).

Confirm the mounting standard (Post Mount vs. Flat Mount) and ensure the supplier provides CAD/BIM files for seamless integration into your vehicle or machinery design. Check for I-Spec or Matchmaker compatibility if the brakes need to integrate with specific gear shifters on the handlebar.

The biggest risk is fluid leakage during transit due to pressure changes in air freight. It is recommended to ship 'dry' (without fluid) or ensure double-sealed industrial packaging. Additionally, be aware of anti-dumping duties on bicycle parts in certain regions like the EU, which can significantly impact your landed cost.

Request a Golden Sample before mass production and insist on a 100% pressure test for every unit in the batch. Negotiate a warranty period of at least 12-24 months, and use Trade Resources or secure payment terms that release funds only after a successful third-party pre-shipment inspection (PSI).

Because these are precision safety components, use palletized shipping to prevent crushing. If the brakes contain Mineral Oil, they may be classified as 'Sensitive Goods' in some jurisdictions; check with your freight forwarder for MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) requirements to avoid customs delays.
