A high-quality lifejacket light must provide a luminous intensity of at least 0.75 candela in all directions of the upper hemisphere. It should have a battery life exceeding 8 hours of continuous operation. Additionally, look for water-activated sensors that trigger the light automatically upon immersion, alongside a manual override switch.

The light must be IP68 waterproof and capable of withstanding a drop from 30 meters into water without damage. Verify that the materials are UV-resistant and corrosion-proof to survive long-term exposure to saltwater and intense sunlight. Request salt spray test reports from the supplier to confirm longevity.

Lithium batteries offer a longer shelf life (typically 5 years) and better performance in freezing temperatures, but are classified as Dangerous Goods for shipping. Alkaline versions are easier to transport and environmentally friendlier to dispose of, but usually have a shorter shelf life and may be bulkier.

Since most lifejacket lights contain batteries, they are regulated under UN38.3 (Lithium Battery Testing) standards. You must ensure the supplier provides a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and a Safe Transport Report. Failure to provide these will lead to customs seizures or rejection by airlines.

Prioritize Audited Suppliers who have undergone on-site inspections by third-party agencies like SGS or TÜV Rheinland. Check their Business License to ensure their scope includes 'Marine Safety Equipment' and request a video audit of their production line to confirm they are a manufacturer rather than a middleman.

Focus on the expiry date of the battery batch. Negotiate for the 'freshest' stock to maximize the shelf life for your end customers. For orders exceeding 5,000 units, aim for a 15-20% discount and request customized OEM branding on the light casing and packaging at no extra cost.

Use secured payment terms and always arrange a pre-shipment inspection (PSI). The inspector should specifically test the water-activation trigger on a random 5% sample of the total order. Ensure the batch number and expiry date are clearly printed on every unit to maintain traceability.
