For 3D designs, a CNC mold is required to create a rounded, sculptural look. Check for mold precision—high-quality keychains should have no visible burrs or flashing on the edges. The dispensing process should be automated to ensure color consistency across large batches.

The attachment hardware is often the first point of failure. Specify Zinc Alloy or Stainless Steel rings and chains rather than cheap iron to prevent rust and corrosion. Request Electroplating finishes (like nickel, gold, or gunmetal) that have passed a 24-hour Salt Spray Test. Ensure the jump ring is fully closed or soldered to prevent the PVC charm from detaching during use.

Pay close attention to small details like eyes and logos, which should be clearly defined. Customs authorities in the US and EU frequently seize and destroy counterfeit goods, and you may face heavy fines. Always ask the supplier for Authorization Letters if they are producing branded designs, or stick to original/custom designs.

Focus on Mold Fee transparency. Most suppliers charge a one-time mold fee (typically $50-$150); negotiate for a refund of the mold fee once your cumulative order volume reaches a certain threshold (e.g., 5,000 units). Also, leverage tiered pricing—the unit cost for PVC items drops significantly as volume increases because the setup time and machine calibration are the most expensive parts of production.

Conduct a Pull Test on the connection point between the PVC and the metal ring to ensure it can withstand at least 5-8kg of force. Perform a Smell Test to detect recycled plastic odors and a Color Rub Test to ensure ink doesn't transfer. For large orders, use a third-party inspection service to verify the AQL (Acceptable Quality Level) 2.5/4.0 standards before final payment is released.

Keychains are small but heavy in bulk. For orders under 100kg, Air Express (DHL/FedEx) is fastest, but for larger volumes, Sea Freight or Rail Freight (DDP - Delivered Duty Paid) is much more economical.
