To maximize energy efficiency, look for seals with a multi-fin design or hollow bulb structure, which creates air pockets for thermal buffering. For soundproofing, the seal must achieve a high STC (Sound Transmission Class) rating. Ensure the product dimensions match the glass thickness (commonly 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, or 12mm) and the gap width to prevent air leakage and whistling sounds.

For international trade, ensure the products meet REACH and RoHS standards to guarantee they are free from hazardous chemicals. For construction projects, verify UL 94 flame retardancy ratings (specifically HB or V-0 grades) and ISO 9001 quality management certification. If exporting to the US or EU, check for ASTM E283 (air leakage) and ASTM E331 (water penetration) compliance.

For self-adhesive seals, specify the use of genuine 3M VHB tape or equivalent high-tack acrylic adhesives to prevent peeling under high humidity or temperature fluctuations. For 'clip-on' or 'U-channel' seals, ensure the internal gripping ribs are made of a slightly harder material to prevent the seal from sliding off the glass over time.

The primary risk is material substitution, where suppliers use recycled plastics instead of virgin EPDM or Silicone, leading to premature cracking and yellowing. To mitigate this, request a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and a pre-shipment sample for lab testing. Another risk is deformation during transit; ensure the supplier uses rigid core spools or reinforced cartons to prevent the seals from losing their shape under pressure.

Focus on volume-based tiered pricing. For orders exceeding 5,000 meters, you can typically negotiate a 10-15% discount. Additionally, request customized packaging (OEM) with your brand logo at no extra cost for large volumes. Always clarify the Incoterms (e.g., FOB or CIF) early to avoid hidden logistics surcharges.

Since seals are lightweight but bulky, sea freight is most economical for bulk orders, but you must ensure the containers are moisture-controlled to prevent adhesive degradation. For urgent small batches, use air express but request vacuum-sealed packaging to reduce volume weight.
