Analyze the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) by factoring in the base metal price plus alloy surcharges, which fluctuate monthly based on Nickel and Chromium markets. To optimize costs, aim for Full Container Load (FCL) orders to reduce per-unit shipping costs, and negotiate volume-based discounts which typically trigger at 5-10 metric tons.

The biggest risks are material substitution (lower grade than ordered) and weight discrepancies. Mitigate these by hiring a third-party inspection agency (like SGS or Intertek) to perform a PMI (Positive Material Identification) test and supervise the weighing process at the loading port before final payment.

Focus on transparency regarding raw material sources. Ask if the steel comes from top-tier mills like Tsingshan or TISCO.
