Request a Material Test Report (MTR) or a Mill Test Certificate to verify the chemical composition of the steel. Additionally, perform a Salt Spray Test (ASTM B117) report review to ensure the tags can withstand the intended environmental exposure without rusting.

A common risk is receiving 201 series stainless steel instead of 304/316. 201 steel looks identical but will rust quickly outdoors.
