Additionally, use a micrometer to verify that the delivered thickness matches the technical data sheet, as 'nominal thickness' can sometimes include the paint layer rather than just the steel core.

For industrial warehouses, prioritize corrugated profiles for structural strength. For residential projects, look for hidden fastener systems (standing seam) to provide a sleek aesthetic and better leak prevention. If the siding is for cold climates, ensure the supplier offers integrated insulation backing or compatible vapor barrier accessories to improve thermal efficiency (R-value).

Steel siding is prone to scratching and bending during transit. Insist on seaworthy packaging, which includes waterproof paper wrapping, steel strapping, and edge protectors. For LCL (Less than Container Load) orders, products should be packed in reinforced wooden crates. Always include shipping insurance covering 'All Risks' to protect against physical damage during loading and unloading.

Steel prices fluctuate with the global raw material market. Negotiate a price validity period (usually 7-14 days) to lock in rates. For large orders, ask for tiered pricing based on tonnage. You should also negotiate the zinc coating weight (e.g., requesting 120g/sqm instead of the standard 60g/sqm) as a value-add rather than just focusing on the lowest unit price.

Conduct due diligence by checking the supplier's Business License and ISO 9001 certification. Use secure payment methods like Letters of Credit (L/C) for large volumes or Trade Terms on Made-in-China.com to ensure funds are only released upon proof of shipment. Avoid suppliers who refuse factory audits or cannot provide a Mill Test Certificate (MTC) for the specific batch of steel.

Steel is a sensitive commodity. Check if your country imposes Anti-Dumping Duties (ADD) or Countervailing Duties (CVD) on steel products from the origin country, as these can exceed 50-100% of the product value. Consult a customs broker to confirm the correct HS Code (typically 7210 or 7308) to calculate accurate import taxes and avoid customs seizures.
