Ask for static load test reports—a high-quality modern bed should support at least 600-800 lbs. Additionally, verify the quality of the center support rail and adjustable legs, which are critical for preventing sagging in Queen and King sizes.

Modern designs typically utilize NC (Nitrocellulose) lacquer or PU (Polyurethane) coating for a sleek, matte, or semi-gloss finish. Ensure the supplier uses eco-friendly, non-toxic water-based paints that are lead-free. For a natural look, wood wax oil is an excellent choice as it is easy to repair and highlights the natural grain, though it requires more maintenance than lacquer.

The biggest risks are moisture damage (mold) and structural cracking due to humidity changes during sea transit. Ensure the supplier uses silica gel desiccant packets inside the packaging and utilizes 5-layer corrugated export-standard cartons with EPE foam edge protectors. For high-end wooden beds, ISTA 3A drop testing packaging is highly recommended to prevent transit damage.

Always request a pre-production sample and a Golden Sample to be kept as a reference for the mass production run. Negotiate a payment structure of 30% deposit and 70% balance payable only after a third-party PSI (Pre-Shipment Inspection). Explicitly define 'defective' in your contract, including allowable tolerances for wood grain variations and color matching.

Ensure the supplier provides a Fumigation Certificate if solid wood packaging or raw timber is used, and a Phytosanitary Certificate to clear customs smoothly.
