High Quality Borated Polyethylene with 10% Boron B4c for Industrial and Research Use

Borated Polyethylene is a composite shielding material made by uniformly dispersing boron compounds (typically boron carbide, B4C) into a polyethylene matrix. It is primarily designed to effectively absorb and moderate thermal and epithermal neutrons.

Highly effective for neutrons, lightweight and durable compared to concrete, easy to fabricate with standard tools, and clean and safe as it is non-toxic, lead-free, and does not become radioactive.

Selection depends on your neutron spectrum and required attenuation. Lower content (1%-5%) is common for moderation, while higher content (10%-30%) is used for maximum absorption in high-flux areas or where space is limited.

BPE provides minimal gamma shielding. For environments with both neutron and gamma radiation, we recommend a composite design, such as layering BPE with lead, steel, or using our integrated Lead-BPE panels.

We offer standard sheets (e.g., 2000mm x 1000mm) in thicknesses from 10mm to 300mm. Full customization is our specialty-we can produce blocks, cylinders, curved parts, and complex shapes to your exact drawings, including custom boron content and density.
