High-Quality Radiation Shielding Boards Made with Borated Polyethylene

BPE is a composite shielding material made by uniformly dispersing boron compounds (typically boron carbide, B4C) into a polyethylene matrix, designed to effectively absorb and moderate thermal and epithermal neutrons.

Key advantages include high effectiveness for neutrons, lightweight and durable properties compared to concrete, easy fabrication with standard tools, and being clean, safe, non-toxic, and lead-free.

Selection depends on the neutron spectrum and required attenuation. Lower content (1%-5%) is common for moderation, while higher content (10%-30%) is used for maximum absorption in high-flux areas or space-limited environments.

BPE provides minimal gamma shielding. For environments with both neutron and gamma radiation, we recommend a composite design, such as layering BPE with lead, steel, or using integrated Lead-BPE panels.

We offer standard sheets (e.g., 2000mm x 1000mm) in thicknesses from 10mm to 300mm. Full customization is available for blocks, cylinders, curved parts, and complex shapes to your exact drawings.
