A thermoforming vacuum packaging machine is packaging equipment that forms a pocket directly from a roll of forming film, places the product inside, and vacuum seals a top film over it in one continuous process. Because the tray is formed inline, no pre-made trays or pre-made bags are needed.

The machine runs in repeating cycles: the forming film is heated and deep drawn into a pocket by the mold, the product is loaded into the pocket, then vacuum is applied (or gas is flushed for MAP) and the top film is sealed onto the forming film. The finished pack is then cut and discharged. Forming, filling, vacuuming and sealing happen inside the same cycle, which is why this machine type is also called a thermoform fill seal (TFFS) machine.
