Q. What is the difference between extract ratio (e.g., 10:1) and standardized extract?

Accepted Answer

A: Ratio extract (e.g. 10:1) means 10 kg of raw material yields 1 kg of extract- it is a concentration measure. Standardized extract means a specific active compound is adjusted to a guaranteed percentage (e.g., 10% ginsenosides). Standardized extracts offer consistent potency batch to batch.
