Roller diameter also matters - larger diameter rolls typically have longer service lives due to fewer revolutions and thicker shells.

Under normal working conditions, the service life of steel idler rollers can reach 30,000 to 50,000 hours. Many idlers are "sealed for life" and maintenance-free - they do not require regular greasing. However, visual inspections should be conducted every 3-6 months to check for abnormal noise, rotation resistance, or visible damage. Idlers with issues should be replaced promptly.

Options include hot-dip galvanizing (providing a durable zinc coating), multi-layer epoxy resin paint (excellent rust protection), or powder coating. All these treatments provide effective protection against moisture and outdoor exposure.
