Q:What is a cold-formed hat section steel profile?

It is an open steel profile formed from strip or sheet into a hat, top-hat or similar raised-channel cross-section. The profile itself is supplied as the finished purchase object for later fabrication or assembly.

Q:Which material grades are commonly used?

Q195, Q235 and Q355 are common carbon steel grade options. Other material grades can be supplied according to the specified material standard and order requirement.

Q:Can the profile be galvanized?

Yes. Depending on the required surface condition, the profile can use galvanized input material or be reviewed for hot-dip galvanizing after forming. Black and painted finishes are also available.

Q:Is a hat section the same as a C purlin?

No. A C purlin uses an established C or lipped-C section. A hat or top-hat profile has a different raised central geometry with outward flanges.

Q:Can holes or slots be added?

Yes. Round holes, slots and repeated hole patterns can be arranged where the final product remains a steel profile.
