Q:What is the main difference between Rigid (BTTZ) and Flexible (BBTRZ) mineral insulated cables?

The Rigid (BTTZ) cable has a seamless copper sheath and a solid hard copper conductor making it extremely strong but difficult to bend and requiring tools. The Flexible (BBTRZ) cable uses a stranded copper conductor and a corrugated copper sheath allowing it to bend easily by hand with a small bending radius making installation much faster in complex layouts.
Q:Can mineral insulated cables be used outdoors?

A: Yes absolutely. The seamless or corrugated copper sheath provides 100 percent waterproof protection making them ideal for outdoor underwater or heavily humid environments without any degradation in insulation resistance.
Q:Do I need to seal the ends of these cables after installation?
A:
Yes for Rigid MI cables (BTTZ) sealing the ends is critical because the magnesium oxide insulation is highly absorbent to moisture. Specialized sealing glands and compounds must be used to prevent moisture ingress. Flexible cables usually have an outer LSZH sheath protecting the inner mineral core.
