The CRS-20A cuts through wood, metal, plastic and PVC with the right blade. It handles framing lumber, metal pipes, conduit, branches, fences and demolition work. The 80mm max cutting depth covers most framing and pipe stock in a single pass. Note: this tool is not rated for cutting steel rebar or structural steel beams - use a reciprocating saw rated for that duty if you need to cut rebar.

A reciprocating saw (like the CRS-20A) pushes a straight blade back and forth at high speed - it is built for aggressive, fast cuts through thick material, demolition, pruning and rough work. A jigsaw uses a smaller blade in a plunge action for precise curves and internal cutouts. If you are cutting straight lines through lumber or pipe, the reciprocating saw is faster. If you are cutting curves in sheet material, a jigsaw is the better tool.

The 80mm max cutting depth means the blade can cut up to 80mm (3.1 inch) into a piece of material before it reaches the full stroke. In practice, this covers most 2x4 framing lumber (38mm), metal pipe, PVC conduit and thicker branches. The 17cm blade length gives you the stroke to reach that full depth on a single pass.

Push the blade release on the collet, slide the old T-shank blade out, insert the new blade until it seats fully, and lock the collet. The whole swap takes seconds with no wrench. The included 17cm (6.69 inch) blade is a general-purpose wood and metal blade - for heavy plastic or thin sheet, a finer-tooth blade will give a cleaner cut.
