Cured rigid graphite insulation is made by binding and heat-treating soft carbon/graphite felt into a self-supporting rigid form. The curing process increases density and mechanical strength while retaining low thermal conductivity. It is supplied as boards, felts, or cylinders for furnace linings and hot-zone assemblies.
Q:Board vs felt vs cylinder - how do I choose?
A:
Rigid insulation boards suit flat furnace walls, lids, and baffles. Cured felt sheets work for curved or irregular surfaces that need some conformability. Cylinders (tubes) are used for circular hot zones, susceptor surrounds, and vertical furnace linings. Choice depends on your furnace geometry - send a layout drawing for a recommendation.
Q:How does high-purity insulation differ from standard cured grade?
A:
High-purity cured insulation is processed with stricter raw-material control to achieve ash content of 5 ppm or below, compared with up to 300 ppm in standard cured grades. It is intended for semiconductor, PV, and other contamination-sensitive lines. Standard cured grade is suitable for general industrial furnaces where ultra-low impurity is not required.
Q:How should insulation work with graphite felt in a hot zone?
A:
In a typical hot zone, soft or rigid graphite felt forms the primary insulation layer closest to the heated zone, reducing heat loss. Cured rigid boards or cylinders provide structural support and additional insulation in outer layers. Layers are arranged from the hot face outward, with grades selected to match temperature gradient and purity requirements at each zone.
