A:
Yes. This is the primary operational model for multi product facilities. Each product gets a dedicated IBC bin that never contacts another formulation. The CWFH frame clamps, lifts and blends whichever bin is docked. Between products, only the frame contact points require wiping. The bin itself stays with its product through weighing, blending and discharge, which is the standard pharmaceutical containment strategy for multi product GMP lines.
Q:What does the infrared safety device actually protect against and what happens if someone walks into the rotation zone during a batch?
A:
The infrared sensors form a detection curtain around the full rotation envelope of the loaded bin. If any person or object breaks the beam during rotation, the PLC immediately commands the braking system to stop the rotary frame. The stop is fast enough to prevent contact injury. The batch resumes only after the operator clears the zone and resets the safety interlock at the control panel. This meets standard machinery safety directive requirements for rotating equipment with an accessible rotat
Q:Our largest batch is 600 kg of a dense excipient blend. Which model should we specify and what rotate speed is recommended for a dense material?
A:
For 600 kg net load specify the CWFH 1000 at 500 kg rated capacity, which gives headroom above the batch weight. For dense excipient material, a rotate speed in the 8 to 12 rpm range balances mixing intensity against bin stress and is the standard starting point for excipient blending. Final speed is confirmed during process validation on your specific formulation.
Q:How is mixing time determined for a new formulation and does the PLC log the actual mixing parameters for batch records?
A:
Mixing time is established during process development by sampling the blend at 5 minute intervals and measuring relative standard deviation of the active component across sample locations. Once the minimum time to uniformity is established, it is entered as the programmed cycle time in the PLC. The PLC logs start time, end time, actual rotate speed and any safety events for each batch, providing the electronic batch record data required for pharmaceutical GMP documentation.
Q:What surface finish standard do the inner bin surfaces meet and is there documentation for a cleaning validation submission?
A:
Inner bin surfaces are polished to a high standard with Ra surface roughness values available on the material certificate supplied with each bin. Documentation includes surface roughness measurement records, stainless steel alloy certificates and a cleaning validation support package with recommended cleaning agent, contact time and rinse verification method.
