Q:Why can the silicone mold be reused only for a few times?
A:
Common reasons include adding too much silicone oil which destroys molecular weight, adding excessive catalyst (over 2% for condensation cure) which speeds up operation and reduces strength, or using the wrong hardness for the product design.
Q:Why does the silicone mold get burnt out?
A:
This occurs when using unsaturated resin materials without demoulding within 3 minutes. The curing agent generates great heat, so timely removal is essential to prevent burning.
Q:Why does the silicone mould appear dry outside but wet inside?
A:
Condensation silicone rubber solidifies by absorbing moisture. To ensure shelf-life, water is removed during production. Solution: Add 0.05% water and stir briefly at low speed before use.
Q:Why is the tear strength of silicone molds weak?
A:
Weakness is caused by adding too much silicone oil, adding excessive catalyst (over 5%, recommend 2%), or using the mold prematurely before 24 hours. Using an outer mold for protection is also recommended.
Q:Why does the mold silicone have poor tension?
A:
Adding large amounts of silicone oil to reduce viscosity makes the rubber too soft, resulting in poor tensile strength, short service life, and fewer mold turnovers.
