This may be caused by adding too much silicone oil which destroys molecular weight, or adding too much catalyst (more than 2%) which reduces tension and tear strength. Using high hardness rubber for small intricate designs or low hardness for large simple designs can also cause issues.

Burnt out molds occur when using unsaturated resin materials without demolding within 3 minutes, as the curing agent produces great heat. Our silicone rubber includes special materials to resist high temperatures.

This is because condensation silicone rubber solidifies by absorbing moisture from the air. We dry out the water to provide a significant shelf-life. Solution: Add 0.05% water into the silicone rubber and stir briefly at low speed when using.

Weak tear strength is often due to adding too much silicone oil to reduce viscosity, adding too much catalyst (recommended no more than 5%, ideally 2%), or using the mold prematurely before 24 hours. Using an outer mold for protection is also recommended.

Poor tension results from adding a large amount of silicone oil to reduce viscosity, making the rubber too soft. This leads to reduced tear strength, short service life, and fewer mold turnovers.
