Structural Integrity Evaluation of Lattice-Type Tower Crane Mast Sections

Mast sections refer to the different parts of the vertical tower that carry the crane's load. Each crane model has different mast sections; these sections are usually made of steel.

The number of mast sections in a crane depends on the type of project and the height required. Typically, small cranes use one to three mast sections. However, large cranes can have up to twelve mast sections to achieve the required height.

Mast sections are usually stored horizontally on scaffolds, brackets, or trestles. This method keeps the mast section stable and provides support for it when not in use. In addition, scaffolds and brackets help protect the mast section from ground damage.

The mast is a vertical structure used to support the load-bearing elements of a crane, such as the boom or jib. The design of the mast will vary depending on the type of crane. For example, in tower cranes, a square tube design is usually used. In mobile and crawler cranes, counterweights are often mounted on the mast to help the crane remain stable when lifting heavy loads.
