DIN 7505 Type a Countersunk Head Chipboard Screw C1022 Yellow Zinc Plated

DIN 7505 (A)-1986 specifies a countersunk head chipboard screw with a reduced shank (d2) below the head. The reduced shank is smaller than the thread diameter, which lowers driving resistance and gives a cleaner thread start in particle board and MDF. The dimensions are cross-checked against GB/T 846-2017, and the mechanical properties follow GB/T 3098.5-2016.

Standard material is C1022 / 1022A low-carbon carburising steel, case-hardened: minimum surface hardness 450 HV0.3 with a ductile core of 270-370 HV and a case depth of 0.05-0.28 mm depending on size. That combination lets the screw cut into board while still withstanding driving torque. Stainless steel versions can be produced on request.

Nominal diameters d 2.5, 3, 3.5, 4, 4.5, 5 and 6 mm, with lengths from 13 mm to 180 mm in production and a supply range up to 200 mm. Pitches run from 1.1 mm to 2.6 mm across the range. Non-standard lengths and mixed-size trial orders are accepted.

Standard finish is electro-zinc with yellow chromate passivation, 5 um minimum plating thickness on significant surfaces, tested to GB/T 5267.1 and ASTM B633. Under the standard, threads, holes, deep recesses and corners are exempt from the minimum thickness and are not evidence of unplated areas.
