Reamer Tek Screw Self Drilling Wood to Steel Countersunk Torx Acq Compatible

A Reamer Tek screw is a self-drilling wood-to-metal screw with two reamer wings just above the drill point. As the screw is driven, the drill point cuts through the wood while the wings widen the bore so the threads never bind in the timber; when the wings touch the steel layer they snap off, and the drill point continues into the metal. All holding power comes from the threads engaging the metal, and the countersunk head finishes flush with the wood - one pass, no pilot hole, no splitting.

Select by your wood and steel layer thickness. No.10 x 1-5/8" suits up to 7/8" wood + 1/8" steel; No.12 x 2-1/2" (the most popular decking size) suits up to 1-1/8" wood + 3/16" steel; No.14 x 2-3/4" to 4" suits 1-1/2" to 2-7/8" wood + up to 1/4" steel. Overall length includes the self-drilling point, so a longer screw does not always mean more wood capacity.

It is engineered for fastening wood (including ACQ and other pressure-treated lumber) to mild steel or aluminum, e.g. trailer decks to steel frames. Per size, max. wood thickness is 7/8" - 2-7/8" and max. steel thickness is 1/8" - 1/4". It is not intended for tempered steel or welds - please select the screw by the maximum wood and steel thickness columns, not by total length only.

Use a mid-speed screwgun at approx. 2,000 RPM with torque adjustment - this protects the drill point. Match the Torx bit to the size: T-25 for No.10 / No.12 and T-30 for No.14. Drive bits are not included with the screws. Do not use impact drivers (shock loads can chip the drill point or break the wings early), do not run over approx. 2,000 RPM (the tip can overheat and dull), and stop driving at flush level with the wood surface.

The screws use a 3-layer bronze coating applied by a dip / spin / bake process for multi-layer corrosion protection, and the coating is ACQ-compatible, safe with pressure-treated lumber. Salt spray resistance is 1,200 h per manufacturer-declared data (ASTM B117 references apply to similar structures); coating color may vary slightly by batch - engineering reference only, verify with samples before bulk orders.
