A hexagonal gabion box is a wire mesh container made from hexagonal (six-sided) woven wire mesh, commonly referred to as double-twist mesh. It is designed to be filled with stones, rocks, or other suitable materials and used in civil engineering, landscaping, and erosion control projects. The double-twist weaving method prevents the mesh from unraveling even if cut, providing exceptional structural integrity.

Common materials include hot-dipped galvanized steel wire, Galfan wire (zinc-5% aluminum alloy), PVC coated wire, and stainless steel wire. Hot-dipped galvanized is the standard and most cost-effective option. Galfan offers 2-3 times longer corrosion life than standard galvanized. PVC coating provides extra protection and aesthetic color options such as green or black.

Standard mesh openings are 60x80mm, 80x100mm, and 100x120mm. Wire diameters typically range from 2.0mm to 4.0mm for the mesh panels. Selvage wire (edge wire) and lacing wire are typically 2.2mm to 3.0mm, usually one gauge thicker than the mesh wire for added strength along the edges.

Common box sizes include 1x1x1m, 2x1x1m, 3x1x1m, 2x1x0.5m, and 1.5x1x1m. The mesh is supplied folded flat with pre-formed diaphragms to reduce shipping costs and allow easy assembly on-site. Dimensions typically have a tolerance of +/-5%. Custom sizes are available for specific project requirements.
