The dam is designed to withstand severe sedimentation. It can adjust up to a 75-degree vertical angle to wash away sediment under normal flow. Remaining sediment is not significant enough to affect lifting or dropping.

Floating objects like branches can drift away with water flow or be managed by regulating single or adjacent dams. Stones stuck between surfaces can be released by adjusting the dam's angle to utilize gravity and water flow.
