The dam is designed to withstand severe sedimentation. It can adjust to a vertical angle of 75 degrees to wash away sediment. Remaining sediment does not significantly affect lifting or dropping.

Floating objects like branches will drift away with water flow. For stuck stones, adjusting the dam's angle allows gravity and water flow to release them.
