R410a is eco-friendly with zero ozone depletion, while R22 damages the ozone layer. R410a requires POE oil, has higher operating pressure (50-70% higher), and uses specialized high-strength copper pipes. It offers 47% higher cooling efficiency than R22 but cannot be directly replaced in existing R22 systems.
