Q:What specific soil parameters can the CPT-1 measure during a standard penetration test?
A:
It measures cone tip resistance (qc) in MPa, sidewall friction (fs) in kPa, and pore water pressure (u) in kPa when using a CPTU probe. For vane shear tests, it measures undrained shear strength (Su) in kPa for both undisturbed and remolded soils.
Q:Can the CPT-1 perform both CPT and CPTU tests with the same main unit?
A:
Yes. Simply connect the appropriate probe (single-bridge, dual-bridge, or pore pressure three-in-one) through the junction box. The instrument automatically recognizes the channel configuration and applies the correct coefficients.
Q:How does the dissipation test work and how long can it run?
A:
During a CPTU penetration, press the "Dissipation" key at the desired depth. The instrument stops penetration and starts time-based sampling at logarithmic intervals (1, 1.5, 2, 3... up to 10,000 seconds). The test can last up to 2 hours and 30 minutes. Press "Return" to resume penetration.
