Grade refers to the wood's appearance, not its structural quality. Clear/Select grades have minimal color variation and few knots for a uniform look. #1 Common and Rustic grades feature more natural character marks like knots, mineral streaks, and color variation, offering a more casual, authentic aesthetic.

Acclimation is the process of allowing the wood to adjust to the average temperature and humidity of the room where it will be installed. This is done by leaving the boxes in the room for a specified period (typically 3-7 days). Skipping this step is the leading cause of installation failures, such as gaps, cupping, or buckling, as the wood will expand or contract after installation.

Kitchen: Possible, but be vigilant about wiping spills immediately. Basement: Not recommended due to high moisture levels from the concrete slab, which can cause warping. Engineered wood is a better option. Radiant Heat: Many solid hardwoods can be used, but strict adherence to the flooring and heating system manufacturer's guidelines is mandatory. The system must be operational and stable before acclimation and installation.
