The KSD9700 thermal protector is a compact bimetal thermal switch designed to protect motors, transformers, pumps, fans and electrical appliances from overheating. It opens the electrical circuit when the protected component reaches the preset action temperature.

The KSD9700 thermal protector uses an internal bimetal element to sense temperature. When abnormal heat causes the protector to reach its preset action temperature, the bimetal element snaps and opens the contacts to interrupt power. After the temperature drops to the reset temperature, the contacts close automatically and power is restored.
