Forging transforms solid metal from one shape to another through plastic forming (hot or cold), while casting transforms liquid metal into a solid shape by pouring it into a mold. Forging improves mechanical properties, whereas casting focuses on melting and pouring processes.

High-quality forgings are selected by checking external appearance for defects like cracks or wrinkles and conducting internal testing for chemical composition, microstructure, and mechanical properties such as tensile strength and hardness using specialized instruments.

The process includes pier roughening, elongation, punching, and expanding. Free forging uses a horse screw for hole expansion, while ring rolling uses rolling. Both methods ensure precise shape transformation from solid metal.

The primary material is 45# structural carbon steel, which has 0.45% carbon content. It offers low price, good cutting performance, and high hardness after quenching and tempering treatment.
