Quality inspection involves external observation for surface defects like cracks or wrinkles, and internal testing for chemical composition, structure, and mechanical properties like tensile strength and hardness using specialized instruments.

The process includes pier roughening, elongation, punching, and expanding. Free forging uses a horse screw to expand holes, while ring rolling uses rolling for the same purpose.

45# steel has a tensile strength of at least 600 MPa, yield strength of at least 355 MPa, elongation of at least 16%, and area contraction of at least 40%.
