Forging transforms solid metal from one shape to another through plastic forming (hot or cold), while casting transforms liquid metal into a solid shape by pouring it into a mold. Forging improves mechanical properties, whereas casting focuses on melting and molding processes.

High-quality forgings are selected through external observation (checking dimensions, surface defects like cracks or bubbles) and internal testing (analyzing chemical composition, mechanical properties, and using specialized instruments to detect internal fractures or shrinkage).

The process includes pier roughening, elongation, punching, and expanding. Free forging uses a horse screw for hole expansion, while ring rolling uses rolling. Both methods ensure precise shape transformation from solid metal.

The shaft is made from 45# carbon structural steel (GB standard), which has 0.42-0.50% carbon content. It offers good cutting performance, high hardness after quenching, and excellent strength and toughness.
