Steel Shaft Forging Shaft for Heat Resistant Casting

Forging transforms solid metal into another shape through plastic forming (hot or cold processing), while casting transforms liquid metal into a solid shape by pouring it into a mold. Forging improves mechanical properties, whereas casting focuses on melting and mold filling.

Quality is determined by external observation (checking dimensions, surface defects like cracks or wrinkles) and internal inspection (analyzing chemical composition, microstructure, and mechanical properties like tensile strength and hardness using specialized instruments).

The process includes pier roughening, elongation, punching, and expanding. Free forging uses a horse screw for expanding holes, while ring rolling uses rolling. Both methods ensure the metal grain structure follows the part's contour.

The shaft is made from 45# carbon structural steel (equivalent to S45C, 1045, or SM45), which offers good cutting performance, high hardness after quenching, and excellent strength and toughness after tempering.
