First determine the running direction: if the belt runs to one side, adjust the idlers on that side forward slightly, or adjust the pulleys in the opposite direction. Make small adjustments repeatedly and check for off-center loading and uneven tension. If misalignment persists, check whether the frame is distorted.

The main causes are insufficient tension, a dirty or oily pulley surface, and overload above the design capacity. Solutions: increase tension, clean the pulley, control the feed rate, and check that the motor power matches the design.

Select the width from the capacity table based on the required capacity and belt speed, and ensure the largest lump size is no more than one-third of the belt width. For small capacity and short distance, 500/650 mm is usually enough; for high capacity and long distance, use 1,000 mm or wider.

Choose a belt conveyor for medium/long distance, high capacity and large lumps (lower cost per ton). Choose a screw conveyor for short distance, powdery or sticky materials, or where enclosed dust-free conveying or a compact layout is required.
