No. Gate valves are designed strictly for on/off service fully open or fully closed. Using a gate valve in a partially open position for throttling will cause severe erosion and wear of the sealing surfaces, leading to leakage and premature failure. For flow regulation, please consider globe valves or control valves

A:
Avoid excessive force: Over-tightening the handwheel can damage the stem or gate.
