The gas nitriding process produces a compound layer (white layer) of 0.2-0.4mm and a total diffusion depth of 0.5-0.8mm. Surface hardness reaches 450-600 HV, significantly harder than standard quenched steel (~300 HV). Under normal welding fixture use, the surface will not show visible wear for 5-8 years, even with repeated clamping and sliding of positioning blocks.

Yes, you can weld directly on the table. However, we recommend using sacrificial backing plates or copper backing blocks when welding through thin materials to avoid accidental arc strikes. The nitrided surface resists spatter adhesion, but direct arc strikes may create small pits. For heavy production, use protective plates on high-risk areas.
