Product Q&A

Q:Q: What do the different antenna connectors mean?
A:
MMCX is a small push-on connector found on compact/lightweight VTX units. SMA (male pin) is the larger threaded connector used on high-power units (10W class) for more durable connections. Ensure your antenna matches your VTX connector type.
Q:Can I switch power levels in flight?
A:
Yes --- all VTX units support IRC Tramp protocol, which allows channel and power level changes directly from your radio via OSD (On-Screen Display), without touching the VTX.
Q:What voltage input do these VTX units accept?
A:
Most units accept 7-36V (2-8S LiPo). The FK model requires 12-28V (3-6S). Always check the spec card for your specific model before connecting.
Q:Do high-power VTX units need cooling?
A:
Units rated 5W and above include active cooling fans. Always ensure the fan intake and exhaust are not blocked during installation. Sustained 10W operation without airflow will cause thermal shutdown.
Q:What is the difference between 5.8GHz, 1.2GHz, and 7.2GHz?
A:
Lower frequencies (1.2GHz, 915MHz))provide longer range and better obstacle penetration but with lower video bandwidth (fewer usable channels). 5.8GHz offers more channels and sharper video but shorter range. 7.2GHz sits in between --- longer range than 5.8GHz with high bandwidth.
