Q:Can the permanent magnet synchronous motor be used as a generator?
A:
Yes. It can work as a generator because of its special working theory. If it runs CW as a motor, then runs CCW as a generator. However, you need to change to a suitable motor controller with AFE function.
Q:Why can't I directly use three phase AC supply voltage to start this motor?
A:
Because the rotor has big inertia, and the magnetic field spins so fast that the static rotor has no way to spin with the magnetic field.
Q:Are there any special technical requests for the VFD driver?
A:
The driver should be a vector control VFD with special inner software, such as Siemens 6SE70, Yakawa CR5, Mitsubishi A740, or B&R P84/P74 series. Our MH300 series VFD also matches this motor.
