Q:Can a permanent magnet synchronous motor be used as a generator?
A:
Yes. It can work as a generator due to its special working theory. If it runs CW as a motor, it runs CCW as a generator. However, you need to change to a suitable motor controller with AFE function.
Q:Why can't I directly use three-phase AC supply voltage to start a permanent magnet synchronous motor?
A:
Because the rotor has high inertia, and the magnetic field spins so fast that the static rotor cannot spin with the magnetic field.
Q:Are there any special technical requests for the motor's VFD driver?
A:
The driver should be a vector control VFD with special inner software (e.g., Siemens 6SE70, Yakawa CR5, ACS800, Mitsubishi A740, B&R P84/P74). Yes, our MH300 series VFD matches this motor.
