The wall needs to be freshly cleaned, free from dust, grease, wax, etc. After cleaning, ensure it is dried thoroughly. Acceptable substrates are drywall, plaster, or clean, smooth tile. Any damaged, loose, or uneven areas must be repaired, patched, leveled, and primed. Fill cracks with wallboard compound or spackling, then sand smooth. Porous materials like highly textured drywall, raw wood without primer, or wallpaper must be removed, sanded, and primed to prevent adhesive failure.
