The wall needs to be freshly cleaned, free from dust, grease, wax, etc., and thoroughly dried. Acceptable substrates are drywall, plaster, or clean, smooth tile. Any damaged, loose, or uneven areas must be repaired, patched, leveled, and primed. Fill cracks with wallboard compound or spackling, then sand smooth. Porous materials like highly textured drywall or raw wood without primer must be sanded and primed to avoid adhesive failure.
