Why is 35 carbon steel adopted for the stem? Isn't it vulnerable to corrosion?

Diaphragm separates process media completely, stem will not touch corrosive fluid. 35# carbon steel as standard. For humid outdoor environment, upgrade stem to 2Cr13 / 410 stainless steel.

Will the valve cause external leakage? Does it have a stuffing box?

No stuffing box, zero stem external leakage. Media is fully isolated by diaphragm. Possible leakage only from flange gasket or damaged diaphragm.

Will the lining peel off?

Molded F46/PFA lining will not peel under rated condition.Over-temperature,heavy vacuum or sharp thermal cycling may cause blister & delamination.

What causes internal leakage when the valve cannot close tightly?

Possible causes: insufficient closing torque, solid particles stuck on sealing surface, aged / cracked diaphragm. Solution: apply proper torque, clean weir seat, replace diaphragm if damaged.

Diaphragm valve is a special type of valve with cutoff function.

Its disc is composed of a diaphragm made of steel disc and soft materials(rubber and fluoroplastic composite),and separate the body inner cavity from the bonnet inner cavity.

When the handwheel is operated clockwise,the stem will move downward,and the disc will drive the diaphragm downward to cut off the passage,otherwise,the valve will open.

The composite membrane separates the lower inner cavity of the body from the inner cavity of the bonnet,and forms a DC channel with it,completely isolating the the stem,disc and other internals

The membrane made of FEP(Teflon) fluoroplastics and synthetic rubber and the valve with a (Teflon) fluoroplastic lining layer can be used for various highly corrosive medium.

As actuator,the diaphragm is prone to fatigue fracture due to frequent opening and closing.Therefore,it should be tested for working conditions,media,and characteristics,and replaced regularly.

Working temperature for F46(FEP) lined:-20~150,continuous service <=120.PFA lining up to 180.Do not exceed temperature limit,fluoroplastic will creep and blister.

Q:Can it work under negative pressure / vacuum conditions?

Standard G41F46 is NOT for high vacuum.For negative pressure/vacuum,please select vacuum-type with PFA lining & reinforced diaphragm,avoid lining collapsing.

Diaphragm is wearing part.Normal service life 30,000-50,000 cycles.Under high-frequency high-temp/heavy corrosion,inspect & replace every 1-2 years.Spare diaphragm available.
