Expandable Leaf Strainer Gutters Screen Covers Down Pipe Protectors

A steel downspout strainer is an expandable galvanized mesh gutter outlet guard that sits inside a compatible downspout opening to help catch larger debris before it enters the downspout pipe.

This strainer is made for standard 2x3 rectangular downspouts and 3 in. round downspouts. The outlet and downspout opening should be confirmed before ordering or installing..

No screws are required for the basic drop-in installation. The mesh is compressed, inserted into the downspout opening, and released so it expands into place.

A gutter full of leaves is easy to see. A downspout packed with wet debris hides the problem until water backs up, spills over, or dumps into the wrong place. This expandable steel strainer catches larger debris at the outlet before it drops into the pipe. That gives cleaning crews and homeowners a better chance to remove buildup from the top instead of fighting a clog buried inside elbows, downspout tubes, or drain connections. The best downspout clog is the one that never gets deep enough to be

The strainer uses flexible galvanized steel diamond mesh. The mesh compresses by hand, drops into the downspout opening, and expands outward to create a friction fit inside the outlet area. The open mesh pattern lets rainwater pass through while larger debris stays near the top of the downspout. During service, the strainer can be lifted out, cleared, and reinserted when still in usable condition. This is debris control, not a no-maintenance promise. The strainer should be checked during gutter
