Texanol is a highly effective coalescing agent. Its core function is to lower the minimum film-forming temperature (MFT) of emulsion polymers, enabling the emulsion to coalesce into a continuous film even at lower temperatures. This prevents cracking and chalking of the coating, ensuring film integrity and durability.

The typical addition level is 5%-8% of the emulsion solid content. The exact amount depends on factors such as emulsion type, formulation system, and application temperature. It is recommended to determine the optimal dosage through gradient tests at the target application temperature, using the minimum amount required to achieve continuous film formation. Overdosing may lead to excessive film hardness, reduced workability, or increased cost, while underdosing may cause low-temperature cracking.

Texanol contains ester bonds in its molecular structure but exhibits good hydrolysis stability in waterborne systems. It remains stable within the common pH range (7.0-9.5) without easy decomposition or loss of effectiveness, and can be stored for extended periods.
