Picosecond laser, as a cold processing technology, has a very smooth and uniform cutting edge with minimal edge fracture. Under optimized process conditions, the amount of edge fracture can be controlled within 10, or even less than 5, far superior to traditional mechanical cutting. After cutting, the edge strength is very high and usually does not require secondary processing such as grinding or polishing
Q:How thick glass can it cut? Can only thin glass be cut?
A:
No. Picosecond lasers are good at cutting ultra-thin glass as well as processing thick glass. For example, it can easily cut ultra-thin flexible glass (UTG) up to 35, as well as penetrate glass up to 6mm in a single cut. With a layered cutting strategy, it can even process thick glass over 15mm (such as 17mm, 25mm)
Q:Is there a problem when cutting coated glass or reinforced glass?
A:
It can be cut, but specific process optimization is required.
